Is there a universal copy and paste feature simlar to that of Palm's "command-c" and "command-v"?

I've noticed that while most programs offer tap and hold menus for copying and pasting, several programs don't seem to offer a way to paste text into a field or copy text from a field.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

If you have the soft keyboard on the screen, you can simply use Ctrl-C to copy and Ctrl-V to paste
