Default Stream iTunes to your PDA over WiFi, just like Airport Express

I thought I'd post this new app I wrote here to see if any one was interested in this kind of thing.

http://www.aspecto-software.com/WiFiTunes/WiFiTunes.htm

This project started primarily as a proof of concepy and is still very much still work in progress. This application will discover via Rendezvous any iTunes running on Macs or PCs on your local network and allow you to browse the library or playlist and then stream MP3s directly to your PDA. Example uses include connecting your PDA headphone jack into a stereo in another room in your house (I have mine streaming music to the bathroom).

Hey this program looks really nice, what a great idea! I have a very large iTunes library on the computer in my living room, but often like to listen to a few songs in my bedroom, and this would be a very ideal situation. About half of my library is MP3 and half is AAC (with a lot of iTunes protected files) so I'd be able to listen to a decent chunk of my music now, and maybe all of it in the future. Keep up the good work indiekiduk, this is awesome!

Yep I didnt even think about the AAC problem until I tried to stream some music from my friends mac. I'm really interested in trying to get AAC files playing since I guess I'll be using them more once my mac mini arrives. As for protected AAC I dunno if it will be possible to play them at all.

Default How do you install WiFi Tunes

I installed the .Net compact framework on my iPaq running Pocket PC 2002, but don't see how to install the WiFi tunes application. I can open the .cab file with WinZip but what do I do with the 7 files?

Thanks

Put the .cab file on your device and open it there, it will install the app...

You aren't meant to extract the file you downloaded. It itself is already a CAB file. Download it from the link provided in the thread, and stick it on your Pocket PC, then open it using File Explorer, or CabInstl, or something similar. That will install it.

Default Remote Control to Airport Express

Hi,

will it be possible to use this software as a remote control to the iTunes running in the PC, so you can control what is being streamed to your Airport Express?

Apart from using it to stream to the Pocket PC, it could also be used as a remote acces to what's playing in the PC.

BR,

Pedro.
