RemoteAmp is a Pocket PC remote control client for Nullsoft's Winamp media player. It operates over any TCP/IP connection and allows you to control playback, edit and build your own playlists, adjust the volume and so forth, all from your Pocket PC! Connect via Wireless LAN, Bluetooth, or even through an ActiveSync session while the device sits in its cradle.

RemoteAmp was designed from the beginning to be the kind of program to showcase how cool a Pocket PC can be. It makes use of an easy-to-use but extremely flexible skin system, offering such capabilities as animated dialogs, scrolling song titles, and many other little things that combine to create a user interface that stands out from the rest. And since it's skinnable, the possibilities for expansion are nearly endless! You can add to it yourself or take advantage of the work of other users to make the application truly yours.

The program package is made up of two components: a server to interface with Winamp on your desktop, and a Pocket PC client to handle control. The server will constantly monitor your music library, intelligently watching for additions or changes and updating the Pocket PC as necessary, so you'll always stay in sync. It also includes the ability to read both ID3 version 1 and version 2 tags from your MP3 files, so you can be sure you'll know what's what when your searching through your media library.

The Pocket PC client presents an intuitive and easy-to-use interface - you can build playlists simply by dragging songs to the position you want them to be and the software will handle the rest. Want to quickly find a song by its file name? No problem! The client can display both a file listing and a sorted song listing by artist. What's more, you're not just limited to MP3 files! Through your media library you'll have access to every Winamp-playable file type stored on your desktop computer.
