Default What next for the OS

Has anyone heard what is next for the OS and when it may appear? I got bit pretty hard moving from Pocket PC 2002 to 2003 and would like to avoid that if possible this year.

The info I got from Microsoft a couple of weeks ago was that the update coming mid year will not be a new version of the OS - just an update that addresses bugs and adds some new functionality. The decision on what's in and out was not setled yet at that time.

A major OS release is planned for 2005.

Thanks for the replies.

Anthony, can you share how you get the updates from Microsoft? I would like stay up to date on any forth-coming change, so as to avoid the situtation that I got myself in last year.

I run the Melbourne PPC User Group and I have made contact with the Australian Mobile Products manager. He came to our last meeting and told us!

There should also be a lot of information about future plans at this years Microsoft Mobility Developer Conference (www.microsoftmdc.com) coming up in just over a month. I'll be writing up and article on it for Pocket PC Thoughts. Key pieces of information expected are hard facts about the next OS for Windows Mobile devices, and details on Whidbey (Visual Studio v.Next) and the .NET Compact Framework v2.0 which will be shipped with Whidbey.
