Default What is this?????? I've never seen this before...

I have an iPAQ 4150...and was trying to use the Bluetooth when I was presented with the following dialogue box...

"The Bluetooth Radio failed to turn ON due to insufficent driver memory available. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn ON the Bluetooth Radio."

So I did a soft reset....tried to turn on the BT...and got the same message. I checked to see what programs may have been running in the background....there weren't any!

Help!

Ive noticed calligrapher causes this problem on my loox. if you have it installed, change the input method to keyboard, and try again.

I'm surprised you still got it immediately after a soft reset. I see it fairly often.

My (possibly totally incorrect) understanding is that today plugins and extra input methods use the same chunk of memory as the drivers for BT. If you have a few today plugins (I do - pocket breeze, contract breeze, ip dashboard) and alternative input methods (I use stowaway, calligrapher and fitaly) you can squeeze the free memory in that chunk. The other symptom is choosing to use something like fitaly and instead it defaults to a built in input method.

Welcome to the club. This is my "Numero Uno" pet peeve with my hx4705. Actually it's my only pet peeve, but yet it seems to be impossible to correct (at least for the braniacs that make a living doing this stuff). It's sad that with 48MB or Program RAM available (I have the PPCTechs 128MB RAM upgrade on my device and allocate 72MB to Program memory) I still get these error messages. Maybe WM5. I can only hope

Default bluetooth error

Don't fell bad. This happens to me with my SX66 that has 128 mb of ram from the get-go. I have to reset the device and then it behaves ok. Go figure

Try using itask+Inet process viewer and killing some hidden processes to avoid a reset.

We used to get that a lot until Dell issued the A03 ROM Update for X50v's. I'm sure HP will do the same at some point.

Default Status update

Thanks to everyone who have shared their frustrations and thoughts.

I thought the issue could be related to software, so I uninstalled the 3 most recent additions... no difference. For what it is worth, I use Word Logic for input and it is the default.

I was poking around with Memmaid and reviewed the start up programs. When I manually added "BTTrayCE. exe" to load before anything else, it worked! And without soft resetting.
