Personal certificates for Wireless access

I have my iPAQ 4700 set up to access my WEP Protected WIFI. But I always have to uncheck USe IEEE 802.1x network control. I know it is not much but it is teadious. IS there a way I can keep this unchecked, or let my network know that iam really me trying to get on?
