Not bad, but did you have a problem with the PDA-friendly portals discussed in the "PPC Formatted Web Sites" thread?

I know another one, althought I don't know if it's updated frequently. You can check it at http://www.piefriendly.com

When I built http://pdaportal.us I chose only sites that would format properly on a PDA regardless of the browser/platform they were running on.

I think you're missing PPCT.

Better go add it before Jason disables your account.
I'm only kidding.

Send a message via Yahoo to JavaJitterz

We also were having a problem finding properly formatted sites and put together a portal as well. http://www.ppcportal.us
I just checked out perrotta's site and would like to add a link to it but couldn't find contact info to ask for permission so I thought I'd post here and ask....would you mind us linking to your site as well? We're trying to compile as comprehensive a list of links as possible and you're site is quite good
Let me know if you're ok with it

Personally, I think the assumption should be that it's OK to link to a site unless you're told not to. Linking to related sites is the whole reason for the Web, after all.

There are a couple of possible exceptions, though. First is the so-called "bandwidth stealing", where you link directly to an image (or other large file) on somebody else's site instead of putting it on your site. I won't go into my thoughts about that here, as they were spelled out in the "I Really Wish I Didn't Have To Do This" thread.

Second is the deep-linking issue, where you link to a page other than the site's home page. Some sites don't like that because it lets people skip over the site's ads and so on. I think that's stupid, because the point is to link to relevant information, and the information isn't always on the home page.

To see how ridiculous that is, imagine if somebody asked a question on Pocket PC Passion that had just been discussed and answered here at Pocket PC Thoughts. I would want to post a link directly to the thread discussing that, but suppose Jason said that wasn't cool and insisted I only link to his home page. That would require the person I'm trying to help to find the forum link and do a search. How silly is that?

If a site is worried about ad revenue, they can put ads on all of their pages. If they're worried about registration, they can put server-side blocks on their pages (just like I've heard <cough> that porno sites do).
