Default ipaq 6515/Tomtom

OK, so I'm a technodummy. But I bought this thing and have now received and activated the TomTom SD card for sunny Australia.
I go to the quick GPS conneciton and download whatever it is that's available - 4 files, I believe. They're there somewhere.
I fire up the application. I understand that I have to wait and wait for it to lock on to the satellites - I don't think that's the problem. No, instead it tells me it's "connecting to GPS device".
It still tells me that quite some time later.
I fish around on the other TomTom screens and there's this happy message down the left hand corner - "No GPS device!"
Well, that's a surprise - I thought the 6515 WAS a GPS device.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
All responses gratefully acknowledged.

I presume you have installed TomTom V5 Ok on your Pocket PC?

If so- go into TT menu- Change Preferences- Show GPS Status- Configure

Select "Other Cable NMEA GPS"- Baud Rate 4800- Com Port "GPS_HWCOM"

On your Pocket PC -the GPS Settings are in:

Windows-Start-Settings-System-GPS and...........

GPS Programs Port= COM4
GPS Hardware Port= COM2 (Baud rate 4800)

This should do it- to check go back into TTom- GPS Settings again and see if you are receiving a signal.

Good Luck

Default Aha!

Thanks for this ...
Funnily enough, I got maps on an SD card but no effing software (as a Mac user I'm used to things that plug in and work ...) - it was all part of a promotion run by HP here in Oz.
I'm taking it up with them, to see whether they can fill the bottom half of the glass as well as the top ...
Cheers
