internet via ActiveSync

My PDA has no WLAN-Card, what a pity.
The only way to go online it to connect it to my Laptop via ActiveSync.
This works fine at my workplace were the laptop uses a WLAN internet connection.
However, at home the laptop uses a ordinary LAN-connection and the PDA cannot conect to the internet.
PocketIE always sais: "the searched site cannot be found"....

Is there anything I can do?

In the ActiveSync options, on the Rules tab. In the pass through settings, if it says Connection type 'Work', try changing it to 'The Internet' and see whether that makes a difference.
