Default Help with 5450 wifi

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? My base computer is a Sony vaio desktop. I am using a microsoft router (mn-500). I can access the files and data wirelessly with the 5450 but I cannot actually open the documents (word or excel) or any music ect... I can activesync wirelessly with no problems. By the way I am using the router as a wireless access point only since I only have dialup.
