Audiovox

I'm thinking of getting an Audiovox SMT 5600 smartphone (Cingular). It has the 2003 version of Windows Mobile. I don't know anything about Windows Mobile for phones. My questions are:

1. Can I upgrade the phone to the 2005 OS?
2. Do manufacturers usually update for new phones when a new OS is available?
3. Would it be best for me to wait for a WM2005 model?

If you want a 2005 device, you will most likely end up waiting for a new device. Manufacturers rarely offer upgrades, service providers offer less. The upgrade would have to be provided from cingualar if you have a locked phone. I can't think of a provider with this phone who has stated they will offer an upgrade. Great phone though.

Do you think they may come out with a WM2005 version of the phone...or isn't this something that manufacturers do? I don't mind waiting a couple of months.
