I'm using an Ambicom CF1100 with my 2215 and a Netgear MR814v2 Wireless Router. I get a connection from the Ambicom card, but cant surf. Any suggestions?

The Ambicom USB adapter needs to be set up properly.
Look in the manual for it.
look in the devicemanager at ports, and see what port the lan bluetooth is on
(default com5)
In the control panel install a new modem (generic datacable transfer) on com5, and this will give you lan access over ppp.
hope it helps

Is that the Ambicom WL1000C-CF card? if so that is what I have and here is what I suggest...
Pickup either vxUtils (personal) at http://www.cam.com/vxutil_pers.html or My IP Config at http://efimov.org/myipconfig and install on your iPAQ to see if its getting an IP Address from Wi-Fi. If you IP on your Computers are like 192.168.1.x and your iPAQ has like 169.x.x.x then your iPAQ is not getting an IP address.
Next, How is your NetGear configured for wireless access? i.e. WEP enabled? Filter Mac Addresses? Shared key or Public Key?, Broadcast SSID?, if the Netgear supports G Wireless, is it set for Mixed Mode or G Only?
Remember if WEP Enabled, the WEP key must be entered EXACTLY the same on both the Wireless router or Access Point, and your wireless devices.
Steps I took to get mine setup are at... http://marzano.home.att.net/mobile/iPAQ-wi-fi.htm It might also give you some things to check... While my router/access point is different (I use Linksys), the idea behind what to setup on it will be the same, plus the iPAQ stuff will be the identical.

Ambicom Trouble
Mark, thanks. I tried it your way and reviewed a few items within the network configuration and can now surf the web and synch wirelessly. However, I'm still having trouble sharing files on my computer. I got it to work once, but can't seem to duplicate what I did.

What software are you using on the iPAQ to access the network shares?
I've been using BizzDev's NetUse its free and available at http://www.bizzdev.com/DesktopDefaul...dex=2&tabid=41 It works well. It maps the network share and you can use the iPAQ's built in file explorer to access the files.
There is an option for "Show the network folder" that causes a folder called \Network to be shown in other applications. This allows you to open files off the network shares from inside other programs.

OK my first answer didnt make sence, I assumed bluetooth.
I have now a similair setup, and I have issues with the router locking up.
if I surf a little, after a while, it just locks.
even with directly hookedup laptop, no access, not even to the router itself.
It's gonna go back to Walmart tomorow, because it's not the first linksys I had that had this.

kinda off topic but yeah. out of 5 linksys routers i've had experience with 3 of them had problems. one would error, another would just deny traffic after a period of time, and another just resets itself.
It don't help to test out new equipment when your existing stuff is flaky to begin with =)

I assume you mean your ActiveSync over wireless shows as "Guest" on ActiveSync on the computer, right?
What is the device name of your iPAQ? ( Start -> Settings -> System -> About -> Device ID) Is it longer than 8 characters? does it contain a _ (underscore)?

How are you trying to sync wirelessly?
-Are you doing it at home on your router to a pc thats hooked up in the same network?
This should work out of the box. I have a Blitzz wifi router now, and if I have a fresh cleaned (fullr reset) 2215 and I installed the driver for my cf wifi card through active sync USB connection (and thus added my ppc in the active sync devicelist) I can sync wirelessly without issues. The only thing I change is to keep the connection open in active sync options on the ipaq, so that I can install programs without disconnecting
- If you are trying to sync when somewhere else, using a wifi connection at StarBucks for instance, you have to enable portforwarding or DMZ.
I dont know what ports active sync uses, and it can defenately add security holes to your network, but the router blocks traffic coming from the internet to your network. If you forward the right ports, or set the router with DMZ to your Active Sync pc, you should be able to sync over the internet.
Hope that helps.
