Ambicom 802.11b cf card

I have the Ambicom 802.11b card. And yes it eats battery for breakfast, and is HUGE (I don't think the sell my modell anymore, but a smaller one).

But the coverage is awesome. Haven't tested any other cards with so good coverage, I can sit outside and still have good signals...

I have the WL1100C and it's tiny - MUCH smaller than the linksys or D-Link. And yes, it sucks batteries like no tomorrow. I pull it out about 1/8" so it isn't always pulling power until I need to get on the network.

What do you mean by that?

And have you tried powersaving mode? Does it work? I just turned it on now, will test it today...

I pull the CF card out just enough so the connection isn't being made by the pins at the bottom of the card. The CF slot is *definitely* tight enough that I don't have to worry about the card accidently falling out.

I saw the power save option in the utility, but it doesn't turn the card off. Usually if I'm in an area that has no 802.11b access points I just disconnect the card as there's no point in having it draw any amount of power when there isn't a network around.

If understand it right, powersave turns down the range, therefore using less batterypower... but I can't say I've seen any difference...
