http://gpsdash.com/overview2.php

"GPSdash2 is a SHAREWARE tool for the PocketPC platform which tries to help you with getting the most out of your (expensive) mobile GPS equipment. It is able to interpret data from receivers and presents the most significant data via 5 complementary views. Accompanied by it's easy to use navigational features, GPSdash2 is your perfect partner for hiking, sailing or any similar outdoor activity."

This GPS tool includes a dashboard interface, charts, a moving map, waypoints and routes, schemes and skins, system-time synchronisation and much more. It appears to be a solid product, so why not check it out? A trial version can be downloaded from Handango, and if you wish to purchase the full version, you can do so at $29.99. [Affiliate]

Default Thoughts on the price

I tried out GPSDash a month or so ago, and is quite nice. But like all these things price plays a big role. I find it too expensive. $30 for a little ditty like this is just too much IMHO.

How do we decide on an attactive or otherwise price? Is is the amount of jangle in our pockets the deciding factor? It certainly plays a big role, it you don't have it, you can't spend it. But not in this case. I can afford to buy this playlet (applet for fooling around with) but I won't because as already stated I find it too expensive.

Consider the case of CalcNote from www.inesoft.com: it costs $4.95 and is a wonderful little thing. Does the job, simple and well. I tried it out and found when the trial period was over I couldn't live without it. Indeed the other product from inesoft illustrates my point as well; namely CashOrganizer. When I bought this a couple of years ago it cost $50 which was at the top end of my range for PPC software. However it is very practical, a real help to my day to day living and adds (for me at least) enormous value to my PPC. I use it every day. Not only that but I find it a rare breed of software in being a real joy to use and explore. Everyday I seem to find something new about it which pleases me. Couple this with the fact that I have been getting free upgrades since I purchased it, toss in the fact that it is super stable, works and works well and you have a piece of software which was worth every penny of the $50 I originally paid. (Today it costs alot less, I believe)

High utility, long product life-cycle, continuing support, and proper function all add up to make the product worth the money I paid for it.
GPSDash is just a little ditty for playing with, and at $30 it is just too expensive (for me at least).

I just bought this version and am quite impressed. I've been using it with my new Socket BT gps.
