I recently bought my first PDA - an iPAQ 1940 - so the OS is new to me . Can anyone tell me the names of the registry files and where they're located?

You'll need a registry editor to see them, and perhaps some info to get you started. You can get it free here:

http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/

Note that just like on a PC this can force a hard reset.

Thanks David, but that's not what I was looking for. Maybe my original post was too vague. I already use Resco's registry editor, and have looked at PHM's. I'm just curious about the actual file(s) that contain the registry; like system.dat & user.dat in Win98.

Windows CE has an internal database system (the "object store") where all the contacts, appointments, mail, etc. are stored. The registry is stored there too, and the only way to get at it is thru system programming calls (like the registry editors use).
