Any new ppc's to have 265k screens??And do we really need that?

Do any of the new VGA pocket pc's have a 265k screen? Is the difference between that and a 65k screen noticeable? Wonder if the new dell will have a megapixel camera. Anyone know when it might be released?

None so far. Shame really since VGA can show 300k pixels. Of course its noticeable! I have seen mobiles with 18-bit displays and when compared to 16-bit mobiles there is a difference.

hmm, wonder why. Is it because of battery life? At least we dont get any "banding" with 65k like the 4096 displays.

I too am anxiously waiting for the 16-bit colour barrier to be broken. :-(

there is a huge difference between a 4k screen and a 64k screen, but the only device displaying 256k colors is the new mobile phone from samsung.
i cant say that the difference is huge, yes the display is realy bright and blending of colors is excellent but, to take advantage of the display, all the software have to be updated on a pocket pc.
so i cant say that i am dying to see new displays capable of 256k colors.
i find 65k enough for a ppc, besides the power consumption of the screen is much more important for me, since the display drains much more power from the battery compared to other components like cpu, ram etc.

LG has a phone edition out that has an 18 bit screen and again its useless since the OS doesnt take advantage of it.

Actually I was hoping for 32bit colour.... 8)

Who knows, maybe in the future we will see sth but I think we will have to wait at least a couple of years

There's always that W?BIC! factor involved. Having 32-bit would be very nice and pleasing for the eye. Besides, newer battery technologies are being developed and so give a few years and you may see 32-bit devices in the market where battery life is similar to what we have today, or perhaps even better.

Photos and videos. 16-bit doesn't cut it - many videos looks nasty right now on the Pocket PC. :-( I think 24-bit would be enough though...
