Default access computer files

I am accessing the internet on my iPAQ 3835 through the infrared port on my laptop. This works great. But how do I access my desktop files? I have 3 computers and a laptop connected to a router. These can all access files from each other but I don't know how to do it with the iPAQ. Any suggestions?

The trick is you need to attach to the folder you want to work with. Essentially you need to "map a network drive". With just the stock file explorer there is a button at the bottom that has the sharing hand icon. Click it and add a location. You will need to know the name of the network share, as in \\myPC\sharedfolder. Once it is established, it will be visible in the file explorer.

Third party file explorers have made this a whole lot easier. You still have to map the folder, but Resco, for instance, displays a tree view of all the networked PC's and the available shares for you to select from. This option also makes it clear if you are not set up right, since you won't get the tree if you are not. The stock method just tells you it can't find the share you typed in, with no other indications.

There are often some connection manager things that need to be played with to get it going. A side note. AFAIK, this should work over IR, and definately via wireless or a network card. Local network browsing DOES NOT work from the cradle.
