I purchased an Aiptek Digital Camcorder over the Thanksgiving weekend and have been playing around with it whenever I get a chance. Last night I was filming some of my son's Basketball game and decided I would splice together some of the better plays by the boys for their parents.
I do not have video editing software so I thought to give trakaxpc a try.
Here's what I've found so far:
It loads/installs easily
First time you open the program, it wants you to point it to the root drive that houses your digital media. The file window will every audio/picture/video file it can get its hands on
You can then sort the lists by file types, Which makes it manageable.
To begin editing, you need to open a mix file, select the first data file and then holding the shift key drag the mouse over the segments you want inserted into the mix.
You have the option of bringing the audio and video or either audio or video rom your file.
To add to the mix, you simply choose the next file and repeat.
When you're done, saver the mix and its good to go.
Not bad for free
Once I get more comfortable with it, I may try to overlay music onto the video (WHEN I have the time)
I spent a total of two hours on it last night, so the UI helped me along (it has a help window on the screen that notes information as you drag your mouse over parts of the screen.
If anyone else wants to try it, I would defintiely say its worth a shot...
