Talking Ulead Vid Studio +

"Multiple overlay tracks and expanding time"

Killer feature for me when working on "weeklys" version of movies/commercials.

Excellent option

The wizard for quick jobs. The higher end editing features for more complex projects.

Embedding subtitles in home movies (bilingual family with mono-lingual relatives on either side) would be great.

Ability to edit HD video would be the most useful... my dad's thinking about getting an HD camcorder, but has held off owing to the potential difficulties of editing the footage.
