Default Hard Drive Giveaway #6: I've Got 3350 GB of Storage to Give Away

OK, here we go with contest #6! If you haven't already read up on why I'm giving these hard drives away, please check out the first contest giveaway.

All you have to do is post a message telling me how you'd use the hard drive. Will you replace the hard drive in a current computer? What size is your current drive? Or add it to a current system as a backup drive? Or will you put the drive in an enclosure? Post one message in the discussion thread (it can be the same text from the first content).

I'll select the winner at random. Once you win one of the contests, you're out of the running for the next contests in this series. Each winner will be contacted via private forum message and they'll have 72 hours to respond to claim their prize - so be sure email notifications are turned on for your forum account. The last contest I ran someone missed out on winning a prize because they didn't reply to my message for two weeks!

The drive I'm giving away in this sixth contest is a Western Digital Caviar 500 GB (SATA). This contest will close on Friday October the 9th 12 noon GMT -7. Enter now!

Default Giveaway #6:

I have currently 60 GB Hard drive on my desktop. My desktop has window XP Professional operating system. If I win this hard drive then I will replace my old hard drive from my desktop. nways its very old and it can crash any time.
I will also go for hard drive partition. I will go for 3 partition. 2 partitions I will use for windows and in 3rd partition I want to install linux. So i want to have dual boot on my pc (one window and one linux). I wanted to do this from long time But because my hard disk is very small so i didn't go for this option.

In window, I will use 1st partition for windows install. In 2nd partition of window i want to have backup, diskimage of os, my daily use data, photos all other type of data.

Probably use as an external drive unless I can find an easy way to replace my current system drive. Perhaps if/when I reformat to Windows 7 this could become my new primary drive. I currently have 160, 500, and 1000 GB drives in my PC, but pictures and movies (and apps and system restore points) take up a lot of space.

Probably put into my Ubuntu media server as additional storage spaces , current hard drive size only has about 150GB, which is filling up very quick.

Since this would not work in my old PC, and it would be nice to use to transfer files with my work laptop (once in a while) I'd get an external case for it, and make it my external HD for backups, and transfering files (like music) to my work laptop.
Also, I could use it to bring to my mom's place so I can do anything I need to for her (like backups or whatever).

More Fun!

I will use it to replace my current 80 gig data drive. It is almost full and could really use a replacement.

Put my name in the hat.

This drive will replace my 7-8 year old Samsung drive that is currently in my 7-8 year old machine at home (sadly). And yes, that's my main computer! lol. Pathetic aren't I?

Default 500 Gig Hard Drive Usage

I have a friend, Sharon, who has all of her family's digital photos on her computer and doesn't do a backup... ever! I have a spare enclosure, so if I were to get the disk I would put it in my enclosure and use it to set up a backup system for Sharon. I'd hate to see her lose all her photos.
