Default Previewing the CD's End

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A19831-2005Feb12.html

" With tonight's 47th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles drawing attention to the ever-shifting world of the recording arts, Petersen and many other music-biz insiders agree that, in the next decade or so, the CD will very likely be surpassed as the album format of choice. "The new format is no format," predicted Petersen, a 24-year industry veteran who also owns a record label, a recording studio and a music-publishing company. "What the consumer would buy is a data file, and you could create whatever you need. If you want to make an MP3, you make an MP3. If you want a DVD-Audio surround disc, you make that."

I like that, "The new format is no format". Of course in reality it does't quite work that way since we have currently have a couple of flavors of DRM and we can convert them to MP3 easily. Still maybe the RIAA is learning something about consumers and how they want to buy their music.

OK, maybe not.

ha!

I'm actually suprised the record companies are still allowing CDs to be purchased.

"What's this? A user can copy this disk to their computer? ANY computer? ANY Mp3/Ogg/WMA player?? That's illegal!"
