Default Macro Photography Done Right: Frank Phillips' Beautiful Bugs

http://www.beautifulbugs.com/

"Thanks for visiting my site. My name is Frank Phillips, and I live in Birmingham, Alabama. I am in middle management with an S&P 500 company, so photography is not my "business", but it is obviously a very serious hobby for me. As you can see from my work, my specialty is what I like to call bug "portraits" because typical insect photography is rather clinical and dry, and I want to give my photographs much more "personality" than that. Therefore, when I begin a shot I always keep in mind the goal of capturing the bug from an angle that we humans don't normally see...and I believe that it shows in my work."

There's a special place in my heart for macro photography - there's something about it that makes me awe-struck. I think it's because it captures things that we can't see with our own eyes, at least not in the way the the camera sees it. Be sure to read the author's FAQ - there's some interesting info about his techniques and philosophy of shooting.

Wow, those are some really cool photos! I like the fact that he has short descriptions for most of them, and they make you notice things you normally may not catch when just glancing at the photos.

Amazing pictures. 8)
