This nameless avatar maker uses Flash, and it's very fun and easy to use. Look at this guy that I made:

Once you've made your avatar, take a screen capture of it using either the PRINT SCREEN key or a tool like
SnagIT. Paste that capture into your favourite graphics editor, crop it, then resize it to be a maximum of 75 x 75 pixels in size. Once you have the graphic, go into your
preferences page and upload the image. That's it - now you're among the proud, the free, the avatar blessed!
