Recommendations on the best sites/resources to start researching camcorders? I can't say I know a ton about the current technology. but am pretty sure I'm only interested in the hard drive or mini-DVD ones.

http://www.camcorderinfo.com/ is one of the larger sites, but don't just read the reviews; read the comments as well.

Yeah, Camcorderinfo is a good site as well. There really aren't that many sites on this topic...I think maybe because it's harder for most people to be passionately interested in video cameras.
