Default Snag a Samsung External CD/DVD Burner for Only $48.99

Sure, you could screw around with trying to make your USB flash drive act like a CD drive, but for $49, is it really worth the hassle? NewEgg has this Samsung drive that supports a dizzying array of formats (8X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 6X DVD+R DL 8X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 5X DVD-RAM 8X DVD-ROM 24X CD-R 24X CD-RW 24X CD-ROM), and is completely USB-powered (it needs two USB ports to power it if you want to burn a DVD). I have the black version of this drive, and it's fantastic. I've even used it with a desktop computer when I've needed to do direct CD to CD duplication.

I second the recommendation for this drive. I've got the same one Jason does (on his recommendation) and it is great. Also nice to have a backup for working on those pesky machines where the optical drive fails.

Wow that's cheap. A good buy, even as backup.

You're viewing it as something you'd only ever use for your netbook - it comes in handy in other ways, so it's a computing accessory that any self-respecting geek should have, not just a netbook accessory.
