"The XPC SN95G5 uses the new G5 chassis. Based on the Shuttle Original “G” chassis design, the G5 has been overhauled for the style conscious user. The G5 makes a number of improvements over the earlier G and G2 series chassis, including Stealthed Drive Doors. G5's clean facia is thanks to three well-integrated stealth bay covers. The optical drive, floppy drive and front media ports can all be hidden from view when not in use — providing superior style and visual appeal. The integrated media ports on SN95G5's front panel have been redesigned for better functionality. The space between the USB ports has been enlarged to make room for devices such as digital camera and thumb drives to be installed at the same time. Also the line in jack has been moved to the back panel, providing a neat and functional finish."
If you like your CPU to be an AMD chip, and you're looking for a new machine, check out what Shuttle is offering with their new SN95G5. Shuttle has really gone to the next level with their design - I can honestly saw that I like these new Shuttle XPC designs as much as, or more, than Apple designs (I've always loved Apple hardware design). The SB83G5 is
equally awesome looking. The SN95G5 boasts gigabit ethernet, an nForce3 chipset and is cutting-edge in every way...except that it has an AGP slot instead of a PCI Express slot. If you already have a good video card, that might be a blessing however.
The biggest complaint I have about my current Shuttle is the noise, because these computers look so good - and are so small - that you'll typically have them up on your desk rather than on the floor, which means the noise is much closer to you. The SN95G5 has a noise rating of only 32db, which is rather quiet. If you're looking for a new system to be built around an AMD processor, the SN95G5 requires a serious look.
