Default ReUSaBle Batteries

http://www.gearlive.com/news/articl...able-batteries/

"We want some! We still adore our eneloop batteries that we haven’t had to charge in months, even though we use them almost daily, but we really admire the ingenuity of the ReUSaBle Batteries. When their juice starts to drain, simply plug them into any USB port or 250mA Ni-MH charger. An LED will let you know the status of the charge. A pair of the 2 x AA size batteries (1.2V at 1450mAh) will cost you $19.15, well worth the amount considering that they will eventually save you money and the planet."

Nice. I think it would be easier to re-charge these batteries because I almost always travel with my laptop so I can use it to recharge the batteries. Though I almost always forget (or find it annoying) to carry a separate battery charger. Also, wihle I don't have it now, one of my cell phone chargers used to have a USB slot at the end that plugs into the wall, so I wonder whether I could charge them that way too.

Those look really handy especially since I have USB ports all around the house (my PC in my room, laptop in the kitchen, Xbox 360 in the living room).

I agree. This is probably the best thing thats happened to rechargeable AA batteries. Eliminates the need for a bulky charger and you can charge anywhere. Can't wait to get my hands on these!

Amazon has them - http://www.amazon.com/USBCELL-AA-Rec...0029510&sr=8-1

but I think they are kind of a waste as they have a huge premium over normal batteries, plus they have a lower mAH rating.

Something like this might serve you better.

Anybody using the eneloop batteries? I've been using more standard batteries just because I find the rechargeables discharge too quickly when not in use.

I'd be more excited if they were Li-ion or Li-poly batteries. Ni-mh batteries just don't recharge enough times.

I'd probably pick up a set if I could be guaranteed that they have peak chargers as opposed to timed chargers.

Eneloops are fantastic. They're even usable right off the shelf. Can't say that with normal NiMH batteries.

But don't take it from me. Read for it yourself!

With these batteries there really is no reason to use non-rechargeables now.
