Default Nanovision MIMO 720-S Mini Touchscreen

http://www.slashgear.com/nanovision...review-2053124/

"Back when we reviewed the first Nanovision MIMO USB monitors, the UM-710 and UM-730, we wondered whether price and niche appeal would see them a passing fad. The proliferation of roughly 7-inch USB display rivals in the intervening months would seem to suggest that fear was unfounded, and indeed Nanovision are back with their second generation of companion monitors. Now narrowed down to two units – the basic MIMO 710-S and the touchscreen MIMO 720-S – we’ve had the finger-friendly model on our desk for the past week."

Neat and potentially useful for both the desktop and as a portable, but at $230, I don't see the killer functionality.  This needs to be sub $100.

Cool concept, but at that price why not get a real second monitor, maybe even one that has a touch screen too (like these little guys).

The only use I can think of is for people like me who are used to multi monitors but are stuck in some sort of portable cycle. On a desk with a full PC, I can get a 1080p 23" for pretty much that price.

I've been looking at this for a while now though the price is keeping me from pulling the trigger. The reason why I wouldn't just get another monitor, which I would, actually, as many as my machine can support, is because I'm thinking while I'm traveling with my laptop. The MIMO is USB powered which means I could set up a secondary display very quickly and easily. Carting around a traditional LCD display with my laptop is just too impractical.

Have never gotten addicted to multiple monitors, and thus don't see the appeal of adding a 2nd Tiny Display - especially at that price (!): it is almost $100 above the 22" am currently using at home, which has adequate room to open multiple (small) windows.

OTOH, the MIMO seems like it could be a neat addition to a PDA / WinMo Pro phone.

But then again, you can get a low-end Netbook for about that same price.

It certainly must appeal to SOME users, but does indeed seem like a 'niche' product.

great product idea, but i would like to see it be closer to 10inches diagnal. change that and I would be willing to spend up to about $180 on it. maybe I am a little picky since I have dual 17's at work and dual 19"'s at home, but I do have an original Eee with a 7" screen and its just too tiny to be useful

i have been looking at these, and they do seem pretty cool and could be semi-useful...i having been thinking of getting a 2nd monitor [for tv] but maybe i could use this instead, less heat/power!

the screen size is decent as i have a 901 eee and am used to it...if it hits the low $100, i'm in!

A warning if you're thinking of using a USB-to-Monitor device for TV. Because the bandwidth on USB 2.0 is limited, you probably won't get a very good frame rate. You'll probably want a more traditional type of connection, though that adds a lot of bulk.

I've been wanting/thinking about a product like this for years and years - but the price point is all wrong. I think the size is OK, but $99 is the sweet spot for this. $230 = FAIL.

Yeah, well . . . . I just bought one . So guess I'm going to see how well hulu plays on one, how well it works for an extension book e-reader (as I got the touchscreen one), how well it works for lower power games like shadows of legend, how well it works as a controller, and widgets . . . waitin' for it to ship. :0
