Default Improved Nook Simple Touch Now Priced At $99

http://blog.laptopmag.com/nook-simp...screen-and-more

"In addition to the new $249 Nook Tablet revealed this morning at a press event in New York City, Barnes & Noble announced a new price drop to $99 and a software update for the Nook Simple Touch eReader."

Part of the Nook Tablet announcement this morning was the release of the Nook Simple Touch E-ink reader.  The Simple Touch is an updated version of the Nook Touch.  It comes with an improved screen touted by Barnes and Noble as the "most advanced E-ink display" and updated software.

The Simple Touch is now available at bn.com for $99, down $40 from $139.  This price drop brings the Barnes and Noble's offering in line with the ad supported Kindle Touch E-ink reader.  The update is available to older Touch owners and can be found at www.nook.com/update.

I bought the first Nook, the Nook Color and the Simple Touch (which, for the record, I think is a stupid naming convention). The Simple Touch is fast, does last forever, is clear to read and easy to figure out. For $99, it's an excellent deal. I use it for my outside reading and for travel while the Nook Color I "upgraded" to Android 2.3 using the N2A micro sd card so I can read Kindle and BN books and mostly use it at night so I don't need a light on in the room. Everything seems to sync well. I'm very happy with the BN product line and that's based on experience from frequent use.

I am in almost the same spot. I like the Nook Color for night time reading, and you my original Nook for travelling, at the beach, etc. I have been real happy so far.

Amazon is tempting me with the one free book a month with Amazon prime though.

The selection is pretty lackluster right now, but I think they are on the right track of bundling lots of value adds in with Prime. Personally I have the Kindle Fire on order and cant wait for it to get here also already own what is now know as at the Kindle Keyboard.
