Default Dell Fills Out Their Netbook Line with the Mini 10

http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/09/...unches-mini-10/

"Dell has just served up its Mini 10 netbook, complete with an "edge-to-edge" 720p 10-inch display, a built-in TV tuner (!), integrated 3G WWAN / GPS, multi touch support and an Atom Z530 CPU. Moreover, you'll find an "edge-to-edge" keyboard (no wasted space, we guess), a gesture-sensing touchpad and expanded design studio choices."

Sweet, looks like Dell has thrown in everything except the kitchen sink on this one.  Plus I'm thinking the 10 inch netbook ends up being the sweet spot for netbooks, so it makes sense for Dell to get this size in addition to their 8.9 and 12 inch offerings.  I'm really surprised we have not seen more devices with built in TV tuners.  Perhaps once the US gets through the digital transition, things will change.

I'm not seeing the plus for having a tuner in this form factor ? OTA signal capture ? The screen bezel doesn't look that much thinner than other 10" 'Books so what's the edge-to-edge about ? I do agree that 10" seems to have become the sweetspot.

I think the edge to edge means the screen is flush to the bezel, but agree, that is not what I would expect from the term.

I think an OTA tuner would be great. Basically, carry around a 10" tv along with the computer. Great for travel.

It does have a lot of features. I like the built in mobile wireless and the tv tuner.

Maybe with a 6 cell battery

Well, why not? If it can be included for cheap, doesn't impact size/form factor, why not have the added benefit of free OTA content?

I like the tuner for DVR usage while on trips as well as just better digital reception at the hotel. More and more hotels have digital tvs but more often than not it is a crappy CRT. A bonus is when the hotel utilizes local cable and the QAM portion of the tuner pulls in additional channels.
