Default CES: Samsung SC-D455 Pocket MiniDV Camcorder

http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000837026411/

"Samsung introduced the SC-D455 MiniDV camcorder that’s only 2.1 x 3 x 4 inches and packs in a 10x optical zoom, a 2.5-inch 123k color LCD screen, Firewire and USB 2.0 connectivity, 32MB of onboard memory, and a Multi Card Slot (for Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MMC, or SD cards). This baby is tiny (wait’ll you see it next to the iPod mini), but yet it still takes 1.3 megapixel pictures, plays MP3s, and does voice recording. It should retail for $400 come March. Can you tell we’re in love here?"

Take a look at this thing! Samsung is having a great CES and this could just be the product of the show. I don't think I've ever been excited about a camcorder before. Make sure you take a look at more of the pictures at Engadget.

The camcorder looks awesome! How much video can these camcorders record on a 1GB flash card? That's the only limitation I'm seeing.

I see engadget has fixed their article.. If it's a MiniDV camcorder, I expect it to use MiniDV tapes!

I'm not optimistic, it's likely to deliver extremely compressed videos.

It's not a DV camcorder. It only takes memory cards and stores video on those. Very nice features, though.

If this thing were a DV camcorder along with all of its other specs, I'd be all over this thing.

Especially considering that it's slated to sell for between $400-$600 according to this site and Engadget. I paid under $800 online for a brand new Sony DCR-PC105. So to get all of its features AND the ability to record to DV tapes, too, in such a compact package would just be nuts!

But sad to say, no DV. Just memory cards.
