Casio Exilim EX-Z4 firmware update

I read over at dpreview.com that Casio has released a firmware update, version 1.02, for this camera. Instructions and download can be found here (North American Users) or here (for users outside North America).

The site says that this firmware update fixes the following:

Improvements Provided by This Update - V1.00-V1.02
• Improves white balance performance.
• Fixes a problem that occurs in the Voice Recoding Mode when memory becomes full.

I have seen complaints about a bluish tint with flash. I've noticed this on a few of my pics as well. The firmware update appears to fix it. However, no release of the movie mode to the North American market yet. <grumble>

Other than the lacking movie mode (available in all other versions of this camera except in the North American market), I've been very pleased with the camera.

Good to know. I don't have mine on me currently (my sister has borrowed it for some time) but did you have any trouble upgrading to the latest firmware? Of the three fixes you mention, the bluish tint on pictures with flash was the only one I noticed and it will be most welcome.

I followed the instructions on the page and it was no problem. From the point I said 'yes' to the update, it took 3-4 minutes at most, I think. You copy the file over to your camera, turn it on with a special key squence (hold down the menu button as you press "on") It will sense the file and as to upgrade. Say yes if you need ot, and wait. That's it! You will need to go back and delete the file using the file system as well (I don't think you can delete it on the camera.)

Just noticed the your start date. Talk about an early adopter!
