I haven't needed any service on any of my Canon cameras, I'm happy to say. However, I did have to have a Sony camera (FD91) repaired. It took not quite 2 weeks - I paid shipping to Sony, they paid for return shipping. I have a friend who had to send a Nikon N55 in for repair and had the same shipping situation. In his case, the turn around was almost four weeks. So, if these are typical, I'd say the arrangement with your Canon is probably within an industry standard range.
