Default Archos AV500 Review

http://www.lordpercy.com/archos_av500_review.htm

"A week later and we'd grown quite used to having the AV500, both while travelling and sat on the desk at work, well sort of sat, more like lying down due to its criminal lack of having a stand! and that's probably the worst part of the Archos Av500. In many ways its a very similar to the bigger AV700 and it inherits the awkward recording method from the family genes. However the Av500 is a much more manageable size and more portable than the bigger and more expensive AV700, it plays video with aplomb and is possibly the most accomplished PMP we've reviewed to date."

Looks pretty nice. Two cool things I picked up from the full review. First, it seems that the included software does a pretty seamless job of getting your content from a DVD onto the player. Second, I'm always a sucker for USB host functionality which makes this a nice companion for you hard core photographers who still want to travel light.

The stone ages? What are you talking about?

I get great quality going from a DVD (720 x 480) to a 320 x 240 video for my Zen Vision:M. Recompressing isn't great, but if you start with a high-quality source, it's not so bad.

I ment that I don't need to recompress most of my stuff for my zen:M. Sure, dvd's need to be recompressed, but most of my stuff isn't dvd..well..technicaly anyways.
