I've always thought that SugarSync was a cool concept, but two things have stopped me from using it: first, the price is too high. I'm paying less than $5/month to Mozy [Affiliate] to back up just under 200 GB of data. Mozy doesn't have any remote data access or any of the other cool things that SugarSync does, so I'd be willing to pay more for that. Maybe $10/month...but not $25/month. If SugarSync wants to compete with the online backup services, they'll need to be more competitive.

Secondly, I wouldn't need all that storage if SugarSync allowed me to specify what I stored on their servers. If it functioned like Live Sync, allowing me to keep folders in sync, but putting some of that data up in the cloud (say, photos), that's something I'd be willing to pay for. I'd still keep my Mozy account for backup, but I'd be interested in a $5/month account from SugarSync to give me what Mozy does not.

Ever considered Jungle Disk? Pricing is very nice; rather than a fixed price, you pay for the amount of storage and bandwidth you use (with $20 for the software and, optionally, $1 a month if you want the Plus service, which gives web access; you still get WebDAV without the Plus, and you get the backup services, too.

I just started using Jungle Disk. It's really just Amazon's S3 data storage back-end. The $20 gets you software to shove data into Amazon, and then you're paying Amazon's regular data storage and transfer rates. Slick.

I have 197 GB worth of data with Mozy right now...that's $29.55 per month with Jungle Disk at 15 cents per GB. Fail. Too expensive by a long shot.

Where do you find actual pricing for Mozy? Is it really "unlimited backup for $4.95"?

Yup, it's really unlimited. I have just under 200 GB on their servers and have for months. No complaints from them, no "Oh hey, we didn't REALLY mean unlimited!". They're losing money on me, but making money on all the 10 GB customers I point their way. The pricing varies - I signed up for a two-year plan, I think it's about $3.80 per month or something at that point...

I tried many online backup services but I think the best is Memopal. I’ve used for almost a year now and it works very well . I decided to backup all my pc and the first time it takes 2 days to backup all. I am very satisfied, I spent 49$ for 150GB and now I can use my Memopal on all my computers, so now I can say, I am serene !
