Default Quicktracks for Adobe Premiere Now Available for Free from SmartSound

http://www.smartsound.com/press/2007/2007-02-14.html

"SmartSound Software, Inc., the leading provider of music scoring technology for film and video professionals, today announced that its Quicktracks for Adobe Premiere software is now a free download for all users. The Windows®-only software includes 10 royalty-free music scores that can be custom-fit for any video project, and can be downloaded by users of Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Premiere Elements® at http://www.smartsound.com/premiere. By making Quicktracks for Adobe Premiere freely available, SmartSound has given thousands of users the leading music creation technology in the industry. SmartSound’s award-winning, patented technology delivers every music score to the exact length needed and can be resized from within Premiere as needed. SmartSound offers the most extensive library of automatically composing, resizable music scores, with more than 1,000 royalty-free music scores available in a wide range of styles and genres. This is all done as a plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Premiere Elements, giving users immediate professional quality music scores without requiring any music expertise."

I've used the SoundSound software before, and it's quite useful - if you're already a Premiere or Premiere Elements owner, it's hard to turn down free software and 10 musical scores. Check it out! I filled out the form to get my copy, I'm just waiting for the email.

I'm really pleased with this announcement. I always thought it was a shame with the software got dropped in Premiere Pro after having used it in Premiere 6.

The good news is that if you've still got the QuickTracks CD from Premiere 6, the new software will import the tracks that are on there as well, thus increasing your "free" library.

Yeah, that was a real loss in Premiere Pro. If you have the production studio, you can use Audition to build music from loops but moving from SmartSound to that is like someone taking away a great jazz CD and handling you a trumpet. I also use SonicFire Pro (the stand-alone SmartSound program), which gives you much more control over the music and Quicktracks is included free when you purchase that, but this is even better still because now any Premiere user can have SmartSound. I've already passed it along to two others at my college who have Premiere but not SmartSound.

Also, great point about the Premiere 6 CD music tracks, Philip. I always install Pinnacle Studio on my system even though I use Premiere, just for the free SmartSound tracks that come with it, but I'd completely forgotten about the ones that came with Premiere 6. I'll have to dig that out and get those installed.
