Recently after 4 and 1/2 years, researchers have recovered data from the charred hard drive of the Columbia space shuttle. I think every one remember the tragedy of this shuttle in 2003. This hard drive was a 400MB Seagate drive.Researchers have said that till now they have recovered about 99% of the data. The reports say that the drive was found in a dry lakebed. It was on feb1st 2003.
Different atmospheric tests were conducted on the drive
One of those tests was an experiment for the National Institute of Standards and Technology to determine how xenon gas flows in a zero gravity environment.The drive which was already eight years old at the time of the mission, spoiled a little bit in the crash, and and litttle bit during recovery. A new motor was aligned to the hard drive
