Default New MP3 Player Coming from Creative Labs?

http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/16/creative-lets-us-know-theres-a-new-player-coming/

"While the press, analysts and fanboys continue to grovel at the feet of Apple and Microsoft for the tiniest little scrap of rumor regarding the next portable announcement, Creative has resorted to drumming up a little bit of their own hype in advance of a new audio player release. The "Mystery MP3 Player" looks like it will be unveiled during their upcoming sale promotion, going on from June 23-25. "Tiny with a price to match!" gives us a feeling they're going flash, and will hopefully be moving their Zen Vision:M niceties into something small enough (and cheap enough) to compete with the iPod nano. We sure wouldn't mind a Portable Media Center 2 offering from Creative, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards this time around."

Engadget has the scoop that a new MP3 player is coming from Creative...I wonder what it might be? I agree with them that it might be a small-screen version of the Zen Vision: right now that have the big Zen Vision for video playback, the Vision:M for mainly audio but some video, but nothing that's smaller. Anyone want to take bets on what it will be?

I'd be REALLY surprised if it wasn't. Creative has been very consistent with their support of PlaysForSure devices.

I was trying to figure out how to try out URGE's all you can eat plan, but I don't want to listen to it on my crappy laptop PC speakers, and I don't have an URGE compatible MP3 player...then I remember.

I have an Xbox 360.

I can download songs via URGE, save them to my laptop, and then play them on my $2000 audio system in the living room. Sweet! I think I'll have to write an article about that.

That will defintely work. It works for Napster, anyway.

Two other ways:
1- You can download the songs to a playsforsure portable player and connect the player to the 360 via USB . If its MTP-capable even the subscription-based stuff should play. (Haven't tested it myself but its supposed to work.)

2- You could wait a bit. Rumors are flying that MS is going to release a media-focused accessory for the 360 and may even offer an XBOX Live-based subscription service to go along with it.

I gave it some more thought, and I'm going to use URGE as a way to preview music. Download it to my PC, listen to it on my stereo via. 360, and if I really like a particular artist/album/song, I'll purchase it online (in non-DRM MP3 format), or buy the CD from Amazon.

I'm still in the "I want to own it on CD" camp, but this is a great way to expand my library to almost infinite proportions, for just $10 a month.

If that is your focus, you might want to check out Pandora, if you haven't already. Getting a lot of raves of late.
