Default Forbes: Murdoch's News Corp To Sell TV Shows On ITunes

http://www.forbes.com/2006/05/09/newscorp-fox-itunes-cx_po_0509autofacescan09.html

"Fashionably late? With so many already in on the act of using iTunes as a one-stop-shop for peddling television episodes and movies, you may have been wondering where Rupert Murdoch has been all this time. Indeed The Walt Disney Company's ABC, CBS and General Electric's NBC have all got distribution deals with Apple Computer's mall of the megabytes. But it's never too late to turn up to a good hoedown, Murdoch might say, considering he's already borne the brunt of criticism for being slow to exploit online opportunities. Now though, it appears News Corp's Fox Entertainment Group is finally making its television library available on the iTunes music store. Such notable favorites will include the hernia-inducing 24 and slammer pageant Prison Break, which along with FX Network shows like The Shield will be sold for $1.99 per episode. "As this partnership demonstrates, we're committed to delivering our content to consumers in as many ways as possible," said Peter Levinsohn, president of Fox Digital Media in a statement. "Today, with some of the world's premier television content, Fox is bringing unprecedented depth--in a single launch--to the iTunes Music Store.""

Finally! I can download and watch 24 on my iPod. This has been WAY too long in coming. While I'm still not happy about the DRM issue, I say keep going Apple, bring us more of the content we love, keep the prices down, and we'll keep buying it. The bigger they get, the more competition they'll face, and either way consumers win.
