Apple Premieres Movies on the iTunes Store in Canada and UK

Well, I am sure you know that they will have the latest releases. If you are curious about their pricing - movies are available at CAN$9.99 for catalog title purchases, CAN$14.99 for recent releases and CAN$19.99 for new releases. iTunes Movie Rentals are CAN$3.99 for library titles and CAN$4.99 for new releases, with high definition rental versions priced one dollar more. Much like in Canada, there is a similar announcement for the UK as well, with a similar pricing structure.

£10.99 for new releases? That I can only play on a limited number of devices? Files laden with DRM? I'd rather pay less and buy a physical copy online, thank you.

I'd hazard a guess that the movie studios are keeping prices artificially high. Having said that, Apple didn't pass on the last Apple TV price cut to the UK, so who knows who's to blame.

Every single device with a DVD drive I own. Any device with a DVD drive that my friends own. Any device with a DVD drive at work...

I guess what we on the other side of the pond consider "devices" differs a bit.

Well, there's DVD players, PCs, laptops, portable DVD players, games consoles...

I also like the idea of being able to lend movies to other people and even sell them. That's before even taken into consideration video/audio quality and extras.
