Amazon's Unbox and TiVo Get Together

"Amazon Unbox on TiVo" will allow TiVo subscribers to purchase or rent videos from leading movie studios and television networks at Amazon Unbox and download them directly to their TiVo's "Now Playing List" to enjoy on their TV. "Amazon Unbox on TiVo" is currently in beta testing among a select group of TiVo subscribers and will be available soon to broadband-connected Series2™ and Series3™ TiVo subscribers."



Well, I've never in my life wished I had a TiVo instead of my generic SA DVR... Until now. Downloading digital movies and TV shows directly to your DVR over broadband seems like a dream come true. Now if we could only get them piped to our Xbox's... C|Net News has a nice article on it here.

The real question is will the recorded movies play in wide screen mode. The series 2 that I have, doesn't do wide screen, and the cable channels that go thru it all come out 4:3 on my TV, regardless of the "aspect" setting in the tivo setup menu's.

I think it is telling that the promotional media displays a standard width TV rather than a wide screen.

I would not want to rent or buy a movie that only displayed in 4:3. Now if we could plug a huge usb disk onto the 360, download movies to it. Now with widescreen + hidef I would be interested.
