Default Xvid/Divx encoding

Hi all,

I've got a few unedited clips, just goofing off with friends - nothing that needs special quality or anything - that I'd like to encode to xvid or divx. I tried using Virtualdub, but it couldn't open the original files.

I was trying to give it the files that are created when Adobe premiere imports video, thus avoiding having to spend a long time exporting. Is there some sort of weird file format on these files? Windows media had no problem playing them...

Any help would be appreciated.

I think you can use the "Export Timeline" feature in Premiere for that.. then from "Settings" select divx or xvid as the encoder.

Hmm... I don't seem to have that option... do I need a seperate plugin, or something other than the Divx codec?

Err.. ok, maybe my version of Premire is too old (6.0). Anyone else with newer versions can help out?

You shouldn't need any plugins other than the necessary codecs.

Yeah, I have 6.0 too and I don't see that option either.

Pro, I'm jealous, that looks pretty sweet... I've got 6.5, and it doesn't seem to have the export to divx or xvid option. Maybe I'll play around with different codec versions, although I won't be at my computer for another two weeks (assuming my car makes it from BC to Ontario!)

No, you're not the only one, I can definately go export timeline>movie, but divx/xvid is not one of the export options.
