Default Firewire problem with XP SP2

Since installing SP2 on XP I am having trouble capturing video from my MiniDV camcorder. A quick search on google found many people experiencing similar problems.

There seems to be a lot of speculation out there, but I can't find anything about this issue on the Microsoft website. Anyone else having the same problem?

My SP2 just went on a few days ago and I haven't tried to capture anything yet. I may have to do that when I get home. You might want to try giving a call to the SP2 phone number the guy mentioned in the message thread you posted. Since that thread was about a month old, perhaps MS knows what's going on by now.

Interesting - no problems with Fireware capture on an SP2 system here. The Firewire is integrated on the Shuttle ST62K.

Well after trying many things and pulling my hair out, this appears to be the fix.

Yeah, but it appears that that fix was part of SP2 - http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;329256
