Book Alert: Photoshop Color Correction by Michael Kieran

While browsing the bookstore today, I spotted this interesting book. The title of the book says it all: it's a guide to colour correction in Photoshop (6 & 7). While this book is a bit expensive (US$40), the depth of the book during my brief browsing of it seemed to be pretty good.

The first part of the book is a guide to colour on the computer and the print, then it goes on to getting your colour profiles set up correctly, then it goes on to teaching you how to get the best colours out of your photos for its intended output, and even covers topics like sharpening and correcting exposure.

This book may overwhelm beginners though; the examples showing differences between the right and the wrong way are sometimes very slight, but professionals will know the difference. All in all, if you're a photographer, and want to learn what photoshop can do for you, I think it's worth a look (along with Real World Photoshop).

Colour correction is something I'm definitely want to learn more about this year, because if I could pick one difference between my own photos and professional photos, it's the colour and white balance - mine rarely look "just right".

A lot of people don't realize that photoshop is a brilliant tool for photo manipulation, if you can afford it, you should try it out and then buy it if you like it. It is pricey, but an ideal tool for serious photographers.
