Default 10/GUI's Radical Touch-Based Operating System Interaction

http://www.10gui.com/video/

"Over a quarter-century ago, Xerox introduced the modern graphical user interface paradigm we today take for granted. That it has endured is a testament to the genius of its design. But the industry is now at a crossroads: New technologies promise higher-bandwidth interaction, but have yet to find a truly viable implementation. 10/GUI aims to bridge this gap by rethinking the desktop to leverage technology in an intuitive and powerful way."

This is unlike anything I've seen before - you have to watch the whole video to understand how radically different this input system is from anything else I've seen. It's not quite as jaw-dropping futuristic as what we saw in the movie Minority Report, but it's still very cool nonetheless. Well worth watching!

They're right about current touch screen monitors wearing out the outstretched arm quickly. However, they can solve that issue by creating a zero-gravity field in front of the monitor, so the arm can float effortlessly. Admittedly that's decades or centuries off most likely.....

I really like the concept, but it also uses more desk area than a regular keyboard. That may be a problem for most. It'll be interesting to see when/if this concept becomes reality soon and if it'll be a widely accepted next gen replacement of the keyboard + mouse.
