Default Silence is Not so Golden on my SPV

Riddle me this: silent mode should be completely silent, right? When I put my SPV into silent mode, I don't want it to make a SINGLE sound. Totally silent. So why is it that when I put my phone into silent mode during an operatic recital, it made a beep when I was selecting a contact while in Inbox? Or that it beeped when I stopped a recording? Come on Microsoft, I know that you understand what "no noise" means...

Does anyone know of a patch/hack that will make silent mode truly silent?

Send a message via MSN to TANKERx

First time I got stung by this one, I was in church, during a quiet bit when suddenly a great 'clunk' came from the phone as I selected a contact (I was paying attention honest ops: ).

Generally, as long as you choose things by their menu items and not the action button, it's keeps shctung, but it still sucks.

Even better than that, these BONG noises are fixed in the 1.6 firmware update that the MoDaCo Mods are currently testing for Orange!

worth checking in Profiles to see if "system sound volume" is set to "off"

I always set it this way so I have a completely silent phone...and rename the profile to my name so I know which is my phone when I'm in a room with a whole load of other Smartphone peeps

Overwrite the default.wav file in the \windows directory of your phone with a edited version of the same file. Copy it to your PC and make it 0 seconds long using the soundrecorder.

(and keep it stored at your storage card to overwrite it again whenever you reboot your phone)

A simple workaround.

Lower your Earpeace volume to the lowest possible... which will bring it to 0 then you kill the BONG that you get when you press action in the To field when sending an SMS...
