Default Orange E200 Supports Bluetooth Headsets

http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=95531

Paul at MoDaCo informed us of the following:

"A number of sites are reporting that the E200 doesn't support BlueTooth headsets. Well here, we try it, and tell you THE FACTS. On the E200, you have an option to discover devices (some other sites actually stated this option didn't exist!). When you discover and bond with a headset (I tested a Jabra BT 200), the phone recognises that the headset profile is supported, and says 'This device supports the Headset profile, would you like to add this device as your headset' (or similar), click 'Yes', and hey presto It works a TREAT too, and you can answer, and most importantly END the call from the headset button. So...We have headset support, Serial support, Activesync over Bluetooth... it's looking good Be away you doubters..."

I was told that the E200 would support Bluetooth headsets when I was at Mobius, so I'm not sure what others sites are confused about the correct info. But now that Paul has an E200, he's pretty much the authority on the subject. ;-)

I think the confusion is simply that the new 2003 OS doesn't have native headset/handsfree support. HTC added it themselves, as each manufacturer of a 2003 device will need to do if they want to offer that feature.

So I think the news of the OS features and E200 features simply got mixed up, since a lot of that info was released around the same time.

The 2003 OS -does- support the headset profile. It is disabled on many bluetooth CE based devices such as the Windows Mobile 2003 devices. A registry change re-enables that feature. Support is there and it is up to the manafacturer to support it or not.
