yeah, my update was quick and painless. Just a couple minutes.

I tried to install the update...it's been in the "waiitng for the device to update" status for over an hour

I'm scared to disconnect it, what should I do?

edit: nevermind I just disconnected it, the zune thinks its been updated to 1.2 properly at least

This is for the folks who were having problems installing 1.2...

Did you have it plugged in into USB Hub per chance? If not, did you plug it in through a port on the back or the front of your PC? Just curious. This might be a problem related to USB hubs.

No USB hub here. My Zune was plugged into a front USB port of a Mac Pro (the power ratings of the front and back ports are the same).

Based on reports from other users, it seems like the update issues are software-related, and not so much user-related. It's a bit of a hit-and-miss, though - so some people experience said issues, some people don't.

Mine hanged for a long time because I left it while I did other things.
I came back and it says:

CONNECT TO PC
"in German"
"in French"

The Zune Software says: Updating - Do not disconnect.

I cancelled it. It didnt make sense.

When I booted the Zune back up. It had the same message:

CONNECT TO PC
"in German"
"in French"


I was like ****!. Firmware got corrupted - Time to exchange.

Before I did:

I plugged the USB Connection In the back of USB from Front USB and went all well.

My zune refuses to update. The zune screen sits at "connected" with the lag dots never moving. the computer goes through the autodetect of the firmware, prompts me and after I get to the part where the update would actually happen, it sits for aout 15 minutes and then tells me "could not change sync settings" web help says it's not responding. I'm using the back USB port and version 1.0 is currently on there.
