Question Compilation cd's

I'm having a lot of trouble with compilation cd's, with all the tracks being put into different albums, all ironically calle dthe exact same thing. Is there anyway to put all these songs as they were intended? This is particularly frustrating with MOS stuff, which is supposed to be played end on end. My other, simliar question is what to do when half the tracks appear as part of the album, and half don't. For example, The Dead kennedys Frankenchrist has tracks 3,5,6,7,9,10 in an album folder called "frankenchrist", with the rest of the tracks displyed after i navigate to dead kennedys the artist. I've tried changing the tags on teh album, though this hasn't changed anything.

The Zune's Kung Fu is still a little weak when it comes to manipulating metadata. Download MediaMonkey and work over your metadata.

So . . . I've downloaded media monkey, changed the metadat (selected all the tracks on the album, clicked properties, changed album name and checked box) but it doesn't change anything in Zune software. So i deleted all teh tracks from the zune software, but when i put the same folder back to be "monitored", no new tracks are recognised . . . Do you know what to do?

It's a last resort, but try resetting your collection:

Default I have a similar question........

I have a DVD with 45 albums on it, when pasting the albums over to my zune folder from the DVD; it breaks each album down to the individual songs instead of leaving them as albums....so instead of getting 45 new albums I'm getting 1000 something new songs......any help there?

Your metadata isn't correct - the Zune can only understand your music if the metadata is correct. You need to correct the metadata for each song...if each album is in it's own folder, I suggest using Media Monkey to correct them all in batch mode - it's nice and fast.

Default media monkey

Hey Jason

So I go to Media monkey and download...can you elaborate just a tad more on what exactly to do.....as stated there are 45 Albums, each album in it's on folder and they're all in MP3 format....

You then said to change the mediaformat in batch mode......any way I can get this explained in elementary terms.....

It's pretty hard to explain how to use MediaMonkey in a quick forum post, but the basic steps would be to browse to the folder(s) that have the albums, select the tracks for each album (hopefully each album is in a separate folder!), then press SHIFT+ENTER to bring up the properties window. There you'd update the album data for all of the songs: enter in the album name, etc., then press OK. This will update the metadata for all the songs you selected - and when the Zune software scans those tracks, it will be able to understand which songs are from which album.

lol jason, i poked around a little bit and see you too are a victim of answering questions for zune about problems that were created long before the first zune was ever released.

the i-sheep are never to be had nor even tempted as long as threads like this keep popping up and the official solution over at zunescene is another program called mp3tag (which actually won't work in this situation i don't think).

some of you may have more luck editing the metadata in wmp by hand if you know the corrections already. mm can be a bit overwhelming for initial users, but i'd like to encourage you to keep with it, you'll be happier in the long run, especially if you have a large number of files.

i-tunes did a wonderful job repairing all the damage done by wmp in regards to metadata...if they can't smooth this out you'd be better off convincing them to at least add the option to sort by file folders...that in itself would probably save a couple million webpages throughout quite a few forums.
