Yesterday I unwrapped a nice Vaja box to find their new Balance case for the Zune. What can I say other than it looks awesome? I wish the Microsoft cradle had more space to allow for Zunes-in-cases to be docked. Pretty short-sighted of them to develop it that way. At any rate, Vaja is going to be offering up 10 fully customized Balance cases to lucky Zune Thoughts readers. Keep your eyes open, the contest will be launching soon enough...

You have to develop docks with a snug fit otherwise the player flops around putting too much stress on the connector causing them to break.

You might want to try the dock without the "removeable insert". From the Zune Dock's manual:

The Zune Dock's removable insert can accommodate future Zune models. To change inserts, press the release button and lift the insert out.

The release button is located inside the remote control slot. Maybe they can make a replacement insert large enough to accommodate a Zune in a case.
